Welcome! I’m Michelle Files, and I’m a firm believer that it’s never too late to chase a dream—or tell a really good story.
My journey as a novelist began many, many years ago, when I started writing my very first book. Then life happened. Work, kids, and all the everyday demands that come with them pushed my writing dreams to the back burner. Over the years, I started several more novels, but somehow, none of them ever made it to the finish line.
Until one day, I decided it was time to stop dreaming about being an author and actually become one.
I started a brand-new novel from scratch, determined to see it through to the end. And this time, I did it! That book became Girl Lost, my first published novel, and seeing readers discover my stories and purchase my books has been an incredibly rewarding experience.
Since then, I’ve written the prequel to Girl Lost, titled A Reckless Life, and completed more than 25 additional books across several series. From gripping mysteries to complicated family sagas filled with secrets, lies, and unexpected twists, I love creating stories that pull readers in and keep them turning pages.
And those unfinished manuscripts I mentioned? They’re still waiting patiently on my desk! I haven’t forgotten about them, and someday I plan to revisit those old ideas, rescue the best ones, and finally give them the endings they deserve.
Of course, there’s just one little problem: my imagination never seems to run out of new ideas. I already have a dozen more novels calling my name, and some of them are simply too tempting to ignore. So, while those early manuscripts wait their turn, I’ll be busy bringing new characters to life, uncovering new secrets, and dreaming up new twists for my readers.
